The Toyota internal combustion counterbalanced trucks form a versatile family with capacities from 1.5 to 8 tonnes. The Tonero range comes with diesel or LPG engines and two transmission types – torque converter and hydrostatic transmission – to suit all driver preferences and any kind of application. They offer great stability (SAS) and productivity during heavy outdoor work and provide driver comfort and outstanding all-round visibility thanks to the wide choice of cabin types.
The Tonero range from Toyota is built to get the job done. Whether in the construction or beverage industry, the harbour, at manufacturing sites or in a small DIY shop, our engine forklifts come with a wide range of features and options to deliver excellent productivity, stability and driver comfort with low maintenance cost.
The Toyota System of Active Stability, SAS, is fitted as standard on each Toyota Tonero. After more than 20 years it is still unique, protecting your goods, trucks and operators and maximising throughput while reducing operational cost.
Stability, confidence and safety are all important aspects when handling goods. While operating a Toyota counterbalanced forklift truck, all driving and stacking actions feel stable and controlled as the SAS system acts before an unsafe operation occurs.
By actively monitoring key parameters of the truck’s performance, the risk of possible accidents is reduced and the amount of pallet movements is maximised. This allows operators to work with full confidence, keeping productivity high throughout a working day.
All Toyota engines are built in-house, for quality and long-term reliability. They are specifically designed for industrial applications and allow quick acceleration and optimised fuel efficiency.
Torque converter transmission
Torque converter models offer a smooth overall driving experience by powerful acceleration and the possibility of coasting, easy direction change, single speed transmission, and no gearshift.
Hydrostatic transmission
The hydrostatic (HST) transmission offers an alternative to the torque converter version by delivering powerful engine braking and acceleration with pre-set driving parameters, quick change of direction, independent lift and drive functionality, an electrical parking brake and ‘stop-on-ramp’ functionality.
Engine-powered trucks are powerful thanks to their higher torque, offering higher acceleration, higher lift speeds and better performance on gradients. This makes diesel & LPG forklifts perfect for heavy-duty industries that require high-tonnage handling on rough and uneven terrain, such as the construction industry, lumber yards, ports & harbours.
Torque converter systems transmit power from the engine to the traction wheels, providing smooth and controlled power delivery. The torque converter drive on Toyota forklifts is especially useful when loading and unloading lorries, particularly in applications where precise control and manoeuvrability are required. They are well-suited for outdoor applications, long-distance transportation, rough terrains, gravel, or uneven surfaces.
Toyota forklift trucks with hydrostatic drive are particularly suitable for applications that require precise control of speed and movement, for example, when handling paper rolls or fragile materials. They are ideal for loading / unloading lorries where high productivity is required.
Stage V, or Stage 5, is the latest European Emission Regulation for Non-Road Mobile Machinery, including forklift trucks ((EU) 2016/1628), which came into force on 1 January 2019. The purpose of Stage 5 is to reduce the emissions from combustion engines by lowering the limit of exhaust levels of diesel and gasoline (LPG) engines. All Toyota engines are compliant, offering you Toyota quality and performance as always, with the lowest impact on total cost of ownership (TCO).
